FEBRUARY 2, 2002 BOARD MEETING HOUSTON
TEXAS
TREASURERS REPORT
Year-to-date income derived from the registration of litters is $13,600
below last year. This
category has achieved 66% of annual budget.
Income derived from individual registrations, which for the
purpose of this report is the summary of individual registration with
litters, individual registrations and prepaid registrations is $17,000
below year ago levels. The
summary of individual registrations has achieved 61% of annual budget.
A few points need to be highlighted:
A.
The annual budget for litter registration and
individual registration was significantly reduced
from a year ago. Therefore,
when comparing year on year, we should expect lower numbers.
B.
To a great degree litter registration and to a lesser
degree individual registrations are seasonal.
Therefore, in order to manage to budget, at this point, we should
be at approximately 60% of annual budget.
Taking these points into consideration, registration is on track.
This should not diminish our focus on increasing registration via
marketing, on line registration and partner relationships.
This was an action item at the October Board meeting and is
listed below in follow-up.
SHOW SURCHARGE CLARIFIED
Show producing clubs will be charged $1.00 surcharge per entry beginning
with shows licensed on or after September 1, 2001 and/or occurring after
January 1, 2002. $0.50 of
surcharge will go to CFA and $0.50 will go to the applicable region
(where the show is held) after the show and the money is received by
Central Office. Any club
not in compliance will not be allowed to license future show until
surcharges are paid.
Reimbursement of surcharge to the regions to be mailed to the Regional
Directors on May 1, August 1, November 1, and February 1 along with a
list of clubs and the related dollars received.
COMPLETE as amended to exclude Canada or the International
Division. The CFA
International Show, any non-scored show will not be paying the
surcharge.
THE CFA BOOTH @ LEAD SHOWS:
There is some confusion over who covers the coast of the CFA booth at
Lead Shows being held under the CFA & Friskies Cat Show Program.
The expenses associated with having the CFA booth at Lead Shows
(LS) are budgeted from the sponsorship fee CFA receives from the
Friskies PetCare Company each program year.
When the program first started, we were able to cover the cost of
the CFA booth attending all 20 LS each year from funds we received from
Friskies. Friskies shifted
the program’s fulfillment services, which were being handled by CFA to
another contractor after the first couple of years, and CFA corporate
then began receiving less direct funding from Friskies.
In 1999, the CFA Budget Committee recommended the scaling back of the
number of LS the booth would attend at CFA’s expense.
This move was to help CFA’s bottom line.
The CFA board approved the budget committee’s recommendation when
they approved the CFA 1999-2000 fiscal year budget.
The 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 budgets provided funds to
cover on around ten (10) LS each year.
Beyond those ten shows, the CFA booth attends other LS when the
sponsoring clubs are willing to cover the associated expense of having
the booth at their shows.
The National Capital Cat Show, Cincinnati Cat Club, Garden State Cat
Club, The Crafty Cat and Nova Cat Fanciers, to name a few of the clubs,
have covered the cost of having the CFA booth at their shows.
REGIONAL QUALIFIER FOR OCTOBER 2002
In order for a cat, kitten or premier to enter the CFA International Cat
Show, it must have been entered and competed in the Regional Qualifier
of the region of residence of the owner.
The previously established region of residence will determine a
co-owned entry's region. A
cat/kitten entered in more than one region will be disqualified.
In consideration of current quarantine laws regarding Hawaii, CFA
registered cats from the Championship, Kitten and Premiership classes
owned by exhibitors residing in Hawaii qualify for entry in the
International without competing in a Regional Qualifier.
CFA registered cats from the Championship, Kitten and Premiership
classes owned by International Division exhibitors residing INSIDE
Europe qualify by being present and competing at the International
Division Qualifier.
However, CFA registered cats from the Championship, Kitten and
Premiership classes owned by International Division exhibitors residing
OUTSIDE of Europe qualify for entry in the CFA International Show even
though they did not compete in the International Division Qualifier.
AOV, Provisional and/or Miscellaneous cats/kittens are eligible
to enter the International Show without having entered a Qualifying
show.
THERE WILL NOT
BE A “QUALIFIER SHOW” IN 2003.
That weekend, the same as past Qualifier’s will be a “Regional Show.”
This can be a one-day, back to back or two-day show.
The Regional Director will deem the most cost affective for the
region. This is to be a
money maker show for the region.
